Minimum Permissions for LDAP users

What are the minimum permissions required for LDAP users to login?

Through trial and error, I've added full permissions to practically every security object to no avail.   I'm stuck.

I've added debugging information to LDAP PAM hook and have verified the authentication is functioning correctly.
