how: accept 4235 characters into the default of a string parameter?

org.hibernate.exception.DataException: could not execute statement

The default value for a parameter of type "Text" (java.lang.String) needs to us 4235 characters.
On clicking "Apply" this triggers the above error message.

Using a parameter of type "Datasource" with the datatype set to java.lang.String (see below) gives me the same error message.

How can I set / change the length that a string parameter will accept to overcome the current length limitation?
I do have administrator privileges.

which version are you using exactly? Can you pls describe the steps for reproducing the problem?

version: RS3.0.2-5855 (2016-05-29-17-55-24)

Add a string parameter to a report (as stated above) and attempt to add the above string as the default value (as stated above). It will fail. My string is 4235 characters.
