Bit field value filtering

For a report we have a flag field which in the database is a bit data type. ReportServer displays this as true and false in reports. However when trying to filter the data if a user tries to use the true or false value in the filter, an error message is returned Error: "true" is not a valid number. Allowed characters are: 0-9 . - ? *
While I understand the underlying issue is the explicit value in the database is not set to "true" or "false" as represented in RS, it can be confusing to a user trying to do the filtering. Any suggestions?
