Hello,
I have never used this software, but had a question on its capabilities. I have several reports that are generated in Excel each day on another server. What I want to do is create an automated email to several people once that report is generated, have it open a simple workflow which indicates that they have received and then approve it once they have reviewed it, and keep a log of that activity.
Is this software capable of doing this? If not, does anyone know of another open source software that can?

yes, ReportServer features quite an advanced scheduling mechanism, please check here for this: https://reportserver.net/en/guides/user … cheduling/
You can send reports per email, or to a teamspace. You can even send them only when a condition holds (conditional scheduling). If you need to send them to a custom place, (e.g. file system, ftp, etc) you can use the "Send To" feature ( https://reportserver.net/en/guides/scri … s/Send-To/ )
You can also use scripting for this, since scripts can also be scheduled: https://reportserver.net/en/guides/script/main/
