Migrating a server

We're setting up a new instance of our entire system. In order to do that, we'll need to bring up a new instance of Report Server. This is what we were thinking about doing, though there are a couple of items that we are not sure how to do.

* Install report server on new machine.
* Stop the server
* Backup old server db
* Import old server db to new server
* Bring up new server, but with scheduler disabled (not sure how to do this)
* Update Datasources on new instance
* Enable scheduler

Is there any other way of doing this? We want to make sure to migrate all users, reports, permissions, etc.

Re: Migrating a server

Dear bpeikes,

be aware of the sequences! Either do an export / Import of the complete database including actual sequence definitions or be very careful with the id's and the resp sequence.
Other than that your brief idea how to do it sounds good.
Using CE you might run into trouble stopping the scheduler: archive the scheduled jobs and restore them afterwards.
Using EE disable the scheduler (easier): https://reportserver.net/en/guides/admi … scheduler/
