the github-project has the main purpose of browsing the RS source-code easily, without having to download the code from sourceforge first.
The documentation of the eclipse project is outdated, as you note. In the future we will improve this (note that this will probably not happen in the near future). As RS CE is open source, you are of course welcome to improve configuration / documentation and we will be happy to review and publish your improvements if applicable.

It seems that this git repository does not reflect the latest commits, because RS4.7.2-6108 is the newest tag.
The current version is 4.7.3
