Scheduler Report Output issue with RS v3.0.3-6002

This is the largest BIRT report we have tried to run in reportserver to date.  This is the largest BIRT report we have tried to date in Reportserver. I have a BIRT report that has 431,000 rows of output from the query that goes to the report output.  I have scheduled the report to run as a batch in reportserver and output the report in MS Excel (xlsx) format.   When I try to run the entire report, the schedule sends an email that it finishes, but nothing goes to the output folder under the teamspace.

So I tried the following. I changed the query to get the first 100,000 rows and it outputs MS Excel file or whatever output I chose, to the output folder,  I then tried 200,000, 300,000, 400,000 and all 3 work and output the report output file to the output folder.   The 400,000 row MS excel output is around 10 MB.

I then tried 425,000 and the entire query which is 431,000 rows, the report runs, but does not output anything to the output folder in the tempspace.

I also tried other formats (i.e. PDF, HTML) and I have the same issue as with MS EXCEL.  When the report is scheduled it does not output any report output to the folder, if I go over 400,000 rows.

When I run the report by right clicking on it and then clicking on Execute as EXCEL or PDF or HTML, after several minutes I get report output for the entire report. I don't have the same problem as when running the report via the scheduler. This issue only happens when I run the report via the scheuder.

Is there any limit in reportserver that  limits the amount of rows you can output using the reportserver report scheduler? i.e. greater than 400,000 rows or 10 MB ?

Is there anything you can do to help me out with this issue?

Re: Scheduler Report Output issue with RS v3.0.3-6002

Hi jeffrozica,

could you pls check / answer the following:

- How much memory is configured for reportserver ?
- Do the logs show anything (audit log / catalina / reportserver )?
- Does it work when you schedule the report to be sent via e-Mail ?
- What is the compressionrate of the resulting xlsx file ?

possibly there is a memory issue. xlsx is very consuming during preparation of the proprietaray xml format even though it ends up quite small because it is compressed (xml).

Re: Scheduler Report Output issue with RS v3.0.3-6002

We have 128gb total on the server. I have configured Reportserver Java heap space min xms as 16gb and max xmx as 64gb, so memory should not be an issue.  I can't make heads or tails of the logs but I can send them to you in an email. I did not try scheduling the report  sending the report output as an attachment in email but will give that a try. Keep in mind that when I run this using execute it runs and brings up the report output, so therefore it must have enough memory to produce the Excel document.

How do I determine the compression rate for the Excel document?

Please let me know is I really need to get this resolved

Re: Scheduler Report Output issue with RS v3.0.3-6002

UPDATE ON THIS ISSUE.  I sent an email to you with the logs attached and here is more information

could you pls check / answer the following:
- How much memory is configured for reportserver ?  min java heap (xms):
-----------16gb, Max java heap (xmx): 64gb

- Do the logs show anything (audit log / catalina / reportserver )?
-----------Sent to you via email

- Does it work when you schedule the report to be sent via e-Mail ?
------------Just tried this and got the email with the excel attachment, although this is not an option for us as the attachment is to big and I cannot send this everyday. We need the report output to go to a folder on the fileserver in reportserver. Still no output in the teamspace folder

- What is the compressionrate of the resulting xlsx file ?
------------How do I find that out.?

Re: Scheduler Report Output issue with RS v3.0.3-6002

Hi jeffrozica,

for whatever reason i have not received your logs. Can you pls. resend them ? Can you include your scheduler.cf file as well? If the scheduler.cf file contains an expression that does not evaluate error free it might prevent the report from beeing saved in the teamspace.

Re: Scheduler Report Output issue with RS v3.0.3-6002

Jan, I have sent the logs via email 3 times.  I just resent the logs along with the scheduler.cf file. Please respond to the email if you get it.  I renamed the log zip file to *.log.  Please rename that attachment to *.zip as it really is a zip file. I am thinking that our or your email security was rejecting the email possibly because of that.  Please let me know.

If this does not work again, do you have a way we can upload files to something that you can retrieve from?

Hi jeffrozica,

we got your logs and your scheduler configuration file in the support portal. We will take a look and update when we have more information.
