Scheduling a report without executing it

Hi,

i would need to schedule a report execution but this report is taking times to finish its execution.
As this report doesn't have any parameters set, when i opened it, reportServer automaticaly executes it.

Is there any way to schedule its execution without executing it first?

Thanks for your help

Re: Scheduling a report without executing it

Hi pmace,

when you double-click a report (e.g. in the admin view ) you are redirected to the "configure list" view, where the report ist not yet being executed.
Or how do you open a report landing directly in the "preview" view ?

Re: Scheduling a report without executing it

Hi Eduardo,

when i double click on the report in the admin menu, it generates a PDF preview of the report, in a new "executed reports" tab, and this is what i would like to avoid, as this generation takes a long time to finish, and i would just like to schedule this report execution without getting this PDF preview.

What i look for is a way to specify the scheduling parameters on a specific report without going through the "executed reports" tab.

Thanks for your support.

Re: Scheduling a report without executing it

Hi Pierre,

if the report doesn't have any parameters, the "preview" tab is automatically being open, so the report is being executed automatically, as you note.
If you add some parameter, even if you don't use it, the "parameters" tab is being open, and you can schedule the report from this tab without executing the report.

Eduardo

Re: Scheduling a report without executing it

Hi Eduardo,

thanks for the idea, it could indeed solve the behaviour.

I'll consider this ticket as solved then.

Cheers,
Pierre
