Permissions to Edit Scheduled Jobs from other users

Is there a way to allow other users to change a Scheduled Job created by another user? If not, it would mean that we would have to create all scheduled jobs under a single user.

I am afraid this is not possible.

Re: Permissions to Edit Scheduled Jobs from other users

I received an email from a Jan Albrecht, a Datawerke employee, that we should be able to give users permissions to "Scheduler administrations" to give people the ability to update jobs.

What does giving users +rwxdg permissions to "Scheduler administrations" do?
The documentation says:
"Scheduler Admin View. The generic right Scheduler Admin View enables to access the Scheduler module in the Admin section. Here, reading right enables to principally view the module. The execute right enables to modify scheduling entries."

I would take that to mean that if a user has +x on "Scheduler administrations" that they can edit jobs, but when we've set that permission up, it doesn't appear to.

Hi bpeikes,

you are right: "I would take that to mean that if a user has +x on "Scheduler administrations" that they can edit jobs, but when we've set that permission up, it doesn't appear to."

This seems to be a bug, since the "Edit"-Button should appear if a user has execute-rights on "Scheduler administrations". We will take a look and correct this for the next version.

Best regards,
Eduardo

Re: Permissions to Edit Scheduled Jobs from other users

Is this fix in the newest version? If so, I have a question on the best way to update our server. We are running RS3.0.2-5855 (2016-05-29-17-55-24) as a Bitnami instance.

Re: Permissions to Edit Scheduled Jobs from other users

Hi bpeikes,

yes, this has been fixed in 3.0.3-6002. Check RS-2519 in the release notes: https://reportserver.net/releasenotes/RS3.0.3.html

For upgrading please take a look at the upgrade guide: https://reportserver.net/en/tutorials/upgrade-303/

Re: Permissions to Edit Scheduled Jobs from other users

Is there a way to perform an upgrade without using the copy file technique? We would much rather:

1) Install new Bitnami 3.0.3 instance on the same machine.
2) Export old data
3) Shut down old version
4) Import data into new instance
5) Bring up new instance.
6) Test
7) Uninstall old Bitnami package

Our current Bitnami install is in /opt/reportserver-3.0.2-6, if we just copy the files, the paths will be wrong. We also don't know exactly what versions of all the components are in the different Bitnami installs, nor do we want to have to deal with that part.

Re: Permissions to Edit Scheduled Jobs from other users

Hi bpeikes,

we don't recommend using the bitnami installer for production purposes. It is much better to manually configure your installation, e.g. for security reasons: https://forum.reportserver.net/viewtopic.php?pid=4042 #2.
This said, there is currently no way to upgrade the bitnami installation by another means as the ones mentioned in the upgrade guide. We recommend doing a manual installation and upgrading this installation with the new reportserver releases.

Eduardo
